How do you find it works as ours is a fairly hard job on the body.

What are your wifes roles in your daily work routine?

My mrs get's made redundant soon and wondered if it would be a good idea.

Just imagine a lot of rows, and by the time i've shown her how to reel out/in hose and clean windows, i'd be going home with 70% less earnings

I started working with the other half at the beginning of the year weekends and evenings when I got the redundancy early warning.
She's great. Writes all the jobs and prices down and does most of the collecting while I sort the gear out.
Downside is spends a lot of time chattering to the other women (and men!) householders but insists (and I agree) it's not time wasted - it is a great intelligence gathering operation she has going
Finds out all kinds of stuff asks questions I would never have the neck to!!!
She's adamant not going to look for another office job when current one finally finishes - she's already got her next job lined up

I've been working with my husband for 2 and a half years.
Until I've had to care for elderly parents I worked same hours as him. I now work slightly fewer hours 'on the glass' but see to most of the organising, all book work, ensure equipment up and running for every morning.
It works very well for us, and I worked in an office before so you can definitely make the change.
Other half is actually worse than me for chattering. If I collect the money we are much quicker.
However, I don't mind getting wet/cold which I know is a downside for a lot of the ladies.

My Mrs works with and she's better than most men I've worked with. I do the stuff that is harder on the body like reeling out or in whilst she does the finesse like collecting and chatting to the customers. I also do the harder stuff leaving her generally windows no higher than 20ft.

i was made redundant just after the xmas holidays and searched for the first few months of the year for another job then finally took the decision to become a windy, had been putting some money buy to start a business and just went for it and bought a van and got it kitted out for wfp.
best decision ive made, i dont have the confidence when it comes to canvassing yet so as soon as the wife to be gets home from work, shes straight into the van and i drive and she does the running from door to door canvassing  . shes a first class sales woman, chatters away to the householder about what a lovely property they own and shes getting new customers where i know id fail to get the custom
shes now talking about giving up her job to canvass fulltime and do collections and all the organising until we have a big enough run for the two of us.

Yeh, I've worked with Wor Lass for about 10 years now.  She's mostly part time though; we set off in the morning with 400 litres and some days it's gone by lunchtime, so I drop her off, fill up and head out by myself.

She tends to do the easy stuff and I do the accounts with the awkward reaches.  We work well as a team, it takes a bit of practise, and when we're on the ball, we have a good hourly turnover.

We get on okay together, rarely fight much (not anymore anyway), and I prefer working with her than some smelly bloke.

If you rely on her to be the 'balls' of your operation, you will have problems.  Being self employed means you have to come out of your comfort zone, but once you get used to it, you'll be fine.
