I went out canvassing the other day. I picked up a new job for £15 3 Bed semi with conservatory, when i quoted i said i clean frames and sills. Well went and done the job yesterday got down the road and my phone goes, she says you have missed stuff so i go back and she says you have not done the conservatory roof, i said that was not included in the price. So she starts going mental telling me i had ripped her to which i started laughing in the end i gave her the money back told her stop waisting my time as any real buissness would never do it and if she wanted to have the roof cleaned it will be £45 to which she slammed the door on me.


What world is she livving in the roof was bloody green lol

i had the same thing a couple of months back.  she said she wouldnt have paid £25 if it didnt include the conny roof.  i said the conny rood wasnt included and our min price for that alone was £60.  its funny because they will swear blind that you said it was included, but of course we have these conversations day in, day out, and are sure what we would say.

Lesson learned = be clear with what you are and are not doing. Don't assume jack, even if he's jumping and flash

Had it once or twice over last 2 years.

When I quote now I say "Is £16 for the house windows and the conservatory windows - we also clean conservatory roofs if you even want it doing"

this then normally generates the how much to get my roof done question so 2 hits and no room for confusion.

When i told her what i did i always say we come 4 weekly, rain or shine, all frames cleaned up to the guttering on the conservatory she agreed I only gave her the money back as she was going mad and i could not keep a straight face plus i have other custys next door. They heard it all and said she was well out of order.

So now she's had her windows cleaned, kicked up a fuss and you gave her the money back................right..........


Vinces no1 rule. Never give the money back, never, never, never, You are on a loser anyway. If they not going to pay you thats a different matter, I've had that and said "keep it" but I knew I was never going to get it anyway.  

To be honest I have had similar though. Had a previously good as gold customer phone up one day and say she wasn't going to send me a cheque because there was a big lump of bird poo on the conservatory roof.  I said to her I didn't do the cons. roof but it all turned to silly stuff.

I have a simple form I use for quoting , it's basically a letter head with boxes for windows , patios, doors, conservatory Windows's , conservatory roof, and frequency .
I tick what's inc. and how many windows, int. clean price , and regular clean price ,saves a lot of confusion.

I always write down down the prices on my flyer that i give them when canvassing that way theres no confusion .

had exacly the same thing.. prices it all up....yep thats 12 with conny and i'll do above the conny (meaning bedroom) she thought i was doing the roof and the lot for 12 dumps... women!!
