Anyone know if jeff1 still around some of his posts on batteries and charging are great?
Anyway if I am charging my battery (because it died on me yesterday I had to use the van battery) and it is only taking about half an amp does it mean the battery is K******d?
I would have thought that a battery would be taking more than that if it was flat.

if it was completely flat then it would take all night to charge, on a decent slow charger.

i had an inteligent charger that after 20 mins would tell me the battery was fully charged, turned out the charger was faulty.

can you borrow a charger, and try and give the battery a charge again.

Agreed - we need all those questions answered.

If its a leisure battery then it could show up on the charger as fully charged but doesn't have any capacity. In this case the battery needs to be replaced; nothing will bring it back to life.
Most leisure battery have a magic eye. If it's black after charging, then suspect battery or charger. If its green and not lasting long, then replace.

Left it on slow charge overnight -  the charger is ancient but made by Krauts (don't mention the war) - Absaar 6 amp.
Battery worked all day including 2 first cleans but this has happened twice now, working fine then suddenly no flow.
Change over to van battery - fine.
The reason I think the sudden cut off happens is because it's a digital controller.
It's a spare Motorcraft car battery mounted behind the drivers seat so can't expect too much -  just didn't want to risk no starting and miles from base.
Those magic eyes don't work for me I am colour blind - maybe they SAW ME COMING!!!!
And sold me a dud.

I would probably go with the battery being faulty TBH.  I personally would replace it with a leisure 85amph battery which should last you 2/3 days before needing to be recharged.

buy a gel battery last 2-3 weeks without recharging was thinking of putting a solar panel on to drip feed as only using less than 1 amp a day
