getting paid in small change
« on: June 16, 2012, 03:55:35 am »
about a year ago i took on this house where the woman whose an old italian asked was it ok to pay in change, "moneys money ok? ". i didnt realize she meant small change!   so i ended up with a paper envelope filled mainly with 5 p pieces adding up to £10 .
since that time each and every visit is the same and its become a tradition, the handover of a tatty envelope filled to the brim with change  .  its just her and her son live there,he must be about 40 and doesnt work . turns out this change is all coming from him,iv even had some chinese money mixed in with it-not enough for me to worry about tho.
The 2 of them are always cagey about where this change comes from ,i ask each and every time   in the hope they have run out of change and will pay proper ,but i get no proper answer
i noticed on the latest envelope full of mixed silver coins ,  it has  all sorts of pen scribble notes about  various small change amounts  so it seems hes totting up a lot  of change

any ideas where he is getting it all ?

This Italian isn't mafia - but I have contacts to silence people who speak out of turn ;)

My guess is his old man before he died, saved them all up in a 40 ounce whisky jar, the great big type. You could probably get many thousands in there.

You mean there's a thriving Mafia trade in bootleg body parts?
