To be honest it is probably worth the double amount as its only for a short period. The client knows you are a good worker so is prepared to pay a premium. Also you worth it!

Speaking to Mike Camm about this the other day.

Have no problems in putting prices up from say £8 to £10  or even £14 to £18 and even put a few up last month by £5 on well undrpriced work and no cancellations so far 1 clean in on new price but I struggle mentally putting the £10 up to £11 ....... yes Im strange I know but I see a tenner as an easy payment for customer who now has to fish around for a pound coin.  ;D

sorry back to OP ............ never a 100% but about to put a commercial up from £10 to £15 ..... childs day nursery with 12 windows takes about 25 minutes cos some right tricky windows to reach ....... I didnt price it up its one that came with some residential work I bought.

They may cancel but not bothered as not prepared to clean it for a tenner anymore.

Now just about 2 years in and round full so this year any new jobs will be priced to the max and all work currently on books getting reviewed pricing wise as I go once the review is done will prob put everything else up by a quid.

Priced a job yesterday a barn conversion with only 4 windows but a biggish glass conservatory with glass sides and clear glass roof went in at £20 a month but £40 for the initial clean as in poor state and them clear roofs are a PIA .... last year I would have prob quoted £14 with no double on the first ... plus she smelt of a 1 off so at £40 its about right ............ still waiting to hear back though  :)

I have just put my prices by 5% and had 4 customers cancel. This does not bother me but I have seen all have spend on a new  things. The one bought a new house much larger in a upmarket area and are just the 2 of them. There has a new car.the third has spend a fortune on his garden. And one lost his job.the first three can afford the new things but feel guilty so feel they must now clean there own windows. Not one could even clean there own backsides as there are not the type to clean anything go by the state of there windows before me.The fellow that was made redundant I have offer to clean his windows once free as he has been honest.

I find it hard when you have got relationships with these people. I normally leave a letter with the client once I have cleaned their windows explaining the increase. I now it is not the best way but I am a big of a bottler when it comes to asking for more. But then again most of my work is over £35 i only have a handful less than that so its not peanuts.

in all honesty it isn't something I would normally do, but thought at £15 i am not fussed if she say's no, but now at £30 it is worthwhile, should have done it ages ago really
