Hi,
rather than change the 3 membranes on the above.... would it be possible to swap them around as i believe the top one does the most work, so if i took the bottom one and swapped it , it may prolong me needing to replace, what do you think guys. ?

I'll give that a go later as mine need replacing. Although mine are only £45 for two on my 200gpd system so I'm just being a tightwad really.

I love saving a few quid or getting a good deal as much as the next man but here is some advice for you...
The membranes in your RO unit are the most important piece of kit you will ever own as a window cleaner.
Get them out and get some fresh ones in mate.

It wouldn't make any difference. If you have them coupled up in Series then the only thing that will change is the order of the efficiency of each membrane during the process. So if its the first membrane that is the worst, putting it to the back of the que won't change the end result. Replace ment of membranes is the only way to go. I would consider replacing them with 150GPD membranes and a new restrictor which will take the same unit from 300GPD to 450GPD for very little additional cost.
If the membranes are coupled up in parallel then swopping them around definitely won't help.
What you could do is try each membrane individually and you may identify 1 that has a problem, removing that will improve your TDS efficiency but reduce your water production rate.
It doesn't work the same way as resin vessels I'm afraid.
