Ford Transit Connect
« on: May 16, 2012, 09:58:04 am »
How reliable are these vans? I'm considering a new or nearly new model.

Any issues to be aware of or underlying problems that anyone knows about?

TIA

Matt

Matt, just looked at your website I am surprised you have not been removed off google for the stunt your pulling at the bottom of the commercial page  :o

one of my guys have a connect, the best one for our job is the long wheel based high roof, he sings its praises  ;)

I've got a 2003 230lx. Had it nearly 2 years, it's done 110k, I've had no problems. Great van, just not great on fuel.

What do you get from a full tank and what does it cost to fill?

The fuel light comes on around 320 miles, I fill up after 360 miles, it's costs roughly £75 to fill. It's usually does 30-32 mpg

Had an 04 plate since 07

I've done over 80k myself, only had two probs, one was wiring next to alternator, a common fault on that year, and other, a gear linkage broke, at 110k.
Apart fom that I rate very highly,
Waiting for brand new shape due in 2013, allegedly it's gonna look like a S max at the front, which is improvement over the current outline, which has been agreed was drawn by a 5 year old, hence the common tem, post man pat van...

Anyway , brilliant van, would buy another, and recommend it highly.

im actually still after one , a decent milage one holds value very well ive seen only a handfull at the price i want to pay and they keep getting snaped up quick, im not being unreasonable but 05 ish plate with about 70 or so service history id pay 3k or a bit more problem is i find they sell pretty quick at that price so i might even go for the 220 they are cheaper and almost the same payload i think

I'm look for one with somewhere between 20 - 40 K on the clock. Spend up to 8K on it.
