Tank issue
« on: May 13, 2012, 06:36:16 pm »
I have two tanks. Tank 1 emptys first, while tank 2 still has about quarter left. As soon as tank 1 emptys, the pump doesnt seem to use up remainder of tank 2. Any ideas how to get them used up at the same time? (apart from new tank)

I'm guessing you mean you have two tanks joined together with water drawn from one using a single pump.  The answer could be that your connection is too small a diameter so it takes too long for the water from tank 2 to flow into tank 1

Ergo: fit bigger diameter connector ;)

where is to connection to the pump ?
does it simpley T in a straight line then go up to the pump ?

take a picture and post it so we can have a look.

I have a twin tank set up in one of my vans, I use standard hose to connect the 2

Yeah I understand thanks Ian, would it also have anything to do with one tank is obviously further away from the pump, so its drawing the closest tanks water first?

it will draw that first but it should draw the water out of the hose put the t piece in the middel of the tanks and try that out, I recon that will solve the issue

if they are wydale tanks the lids never fit no need for a vent.

saying that I have plastic over mine to stop the lids leaking and the other day I cause a vacum and had to man handle them off as they stopped the flow of water, so can see where your coming from but they would not empty like hes saying they just take the air out the tank and suck the tank in about half full.

Looks to me like the tanks aren't actually joined together so that they transfer from one to another. So obviously the first tank empties until the pump sucks in air and occasionally some water from the far tank. Be better if they were joined together at the bottom with only one feed to the pump. You might have already said that Ian.

Ive set it up diffrently than how it should be mind.

The outlets you can see in the photo, are supposed to be joined together, then the pump connected to a diffrent outlet on the top of one of the tanks, but for a couple of issue's, i had to do it this way.

James I would have taps on each of the outlets so maybe look inot that when changing it around, with the space you have there there is no reason for them to be this way.
