Best chemical for frames and sills?
« on: May 02, 2012, 02:24:39 pm »
Hello,
Just wondering what you guys use to clean frames and sills if they're really dirty. Seems that fairy is not enough.
Kitchen and bathroom cleaner would do ?

Thanks,

Bart

Hi.

This is my first post and thought I would just jump in lol.

Anyway when I do frames or any upvc inc doors i use some tfr traffic film remover even for fascias . If its really bad use it quite strong ie straight out the drum but if they are just a bit dirty water  it down and get it off asap.

Hope that helps:) .

I use a solvent cleaner, available from UPVC window suppliers, cost around a fiver a bottle, you need to wear a mask though because of the fumes given off, eats right into the build up of grime, but it dont really last that long,it does a couple of frames depending on the size, and you have to work pretty quick with it.

Regards Brian.

This is the best solvent cleaner for White UPVC, be careful on anything coloured though as solvents can and will take the colour.

SX solvent cleaner goes further and cleans easier than others we have used. This is now always first choice.
