Has any one put a stop valve on the wcw backpack as its a pain having to keep going back to the unit to turn it off, would this damage the pump?

Pump is auto shut off on mine, I have had a stop valve fitted from new with no adverse effects.

Hi magic,
As the others have said, it should be fine. We use backpacks to demonstrate.
You can hear the pump switching off in this short video clip:
http://youtu.be/-8ja3j6uQwE
Some pumps/controllers will 'pulse' occasionally to test whether the water can flow again or not. So, even though the pump will stop, it's best not to leave your water switched off for a long period of time, e.g. over half an hour.

I have a small gardiners Push Fit Quick-Fit pole control valve just before brush, saves running back and forward to backpack. Dont worry about pump, it is auto shut off.
