Hi Guys,

Quiting a stressful Advertising Sales Job to start a window cleaning business in Northern Ireland.

I had bad experinces of climbing ladders so would be intrested in buying a WFP Trolley system to do the tops and just Trad the bottoms, Can anyone please let me know if a Trolley system is any good as i  can't afford a van mounted system just yet, it is somthing i would work towards tho.

Would a Back Pack WFP System  GET ME STARTED INSTEAD OF TROLLEY ?  lOOKING FOR ANY INFO OR HELP ......

Happy Easter!!!    ;D

Hi,welcome onboard.
I started with a window cleaning warehouse backpack, bungeed to a cheap fold down trolley that i bought at my local discount store, think it was less than £20
This would be the cheapest way to start up mate.
Red hat diving also sell the same backpack for around £140

www.purefreedom.co.uk  Purchased my trolly 4 years ago from this engineering firm. Can't fault them for their advice in the beginning, and still use them now for filters, resin etc: Only use the trolly now an again for certain jobs asI use a van mount now, Either system off these guys is fine, depending on the work, and what the access is like to that work.

Good luck. ;D

Take a look at Fiverr and Elance

You can get people to do loads of things like that on Fiverr and its only costs Five Dollars – about £3.00. Elance is a great place post what you want done and freelancers bid on the job so the price keeps dropping.  You can get all sorts of things done Contracts for self employed, websites, legal advice basically anything at great prices. Hey Bobby,

Not so sure about ladders....   Do you use a Ladder stopper? are Stoppers any good? I was popping in a sealed unit into a window frame a few years back and ladder slid, i landed on the ground and the glass landed on top of me   :-[  so bit wary of Ladders... But if i have to i will use a Ladder....

when i first started 5 yrs ago i had a real fear of ladders, after 3months going up everyday my fear went suddenly and then i could smile !

i wouldnt recommend any rubber mat after i had one slip on me 2 yrs ago and i fell the full drop(almost broke legs but didnt by luck)  . but i DO recommend getting spikes fitted to your ladder, they are the best safety item, old timers recommend these

my spikes fit only about 1/2 " lower than the ladder feet ,they are sharp so they get a good grip on the tiniest of cracks inbetween slabs .  Since i put spikes on my ladders ive never had a ladder move on concrete or whatever .

the only surface i wont ever put a ladder on is a Quarry tile path ,thats what i slipped on when i was using a rubber mat . or green decking ,altho the spikes dig in the wood a tad,i wont take that risk
A few firms sell "ladder spikes" just google the words. they bolt thru the ladder and are easy enough to fit .  i believe i could have made my own ,better quality, using a strip of hardened steel . the ones i bought are made of mild steel, not so good as hardened steel  but they work o.k. ,  and they get a bit blunt after a few months and the tips need sharpening with a file.
