Does it make any differance to the handling of your van?

Yes it does particularly if 400 litres or over. You will notice this when cornering and stopping. The flat tank has a much lower centre of gravity and is inherently safer.

When we were developing a crash test system we noticed that the more upright the tank the harder it was to restrain as the leverage it could exert under force was so much greater.

flat tanks of any large size make you feel like your in a boat, and waste load space

I have a 1100 ltr flat (ish) tank! van handles like a dream. The tank IS fitted correctly, baffled, the van payload is correct to take the weight, and known as the 'yellow submarine' among local window cleaners to me!
