[Completeclean]

  Was just wondering how ye good folks charge for chewing gum removal,per piece?per sq.ft?,per sq. metre ?
Personally in domestics i come across gum rarely so when i do it's not something i charge extra for, but say in a pub,nightclub,commercial situation,i'm at a loss as to how i should charge. Any help,suggestions would be appreciated.

Easy, figure out how long it will take and charge accordingly

I tell them it's £2 per gum wad and encourage them to count it up.  I remind them it's a daily housekeeping issue and there are gum removal products they can buy.  I don't do much gum removal surprisingly

Tell'em you don't do chewing gum as it is something they need to deal with on a daily basis, not every blue moon when they get their carpet cleaned.

It is always better to quote per piece of gum as if people do not act immeadiately to your quote you will be paid for any addition pieces that are added in the meantine. As regards charging that is another long winded explanation.
I know it is not a very pleasant job but it is some thing that if you want to get into certain market places I.e, high st shops, trains, pubs, and clubs, then it is something that you need to learn to deal with. Carpets look crap if you get the dirt off and leave them covered in chewing gum.
I do a lot of work in these market places and if I refused to do the chewing gum removal or charged ridiculously high prices then quite simply the work would go somewhere else.
Chewing gum is a pain in the arse but at the end of the day it is the motorvating factor in a lot of premises wanting their carpets cleaned in the first place, so you either accept it or do not do the work.
I have tried to get pubs and clubs that I have done for years to deal with gum themselve but most of the time it just does nt happen.
If a carpet cleaner is not dealing with gum then there  is a good opportumity for another cleaner who can deal with the problem to get that work.

Umm............ yes...... well........if only
We've just done a nightclub which should result in at least another 5 in the chain to be done. This one has just had a refurb after being taken over by another company and I figured into the price that I would put someone in at the same time who's only job for the day was removing as much as possible.
He'd hardly scratched the surface so to speak with what he got out compared to what was still left behind. I didn't count how many pieces but thinking about it there could possibly have been as many as 5,000 based on how many were in each sq/m (it was 500m/s of carpet to clean).
What made it harder was that the carpet hadn't received any attention in over 5 years so the chances of getting gum out was remote and even at 50p each they'd never had gone for it (£2,500)

hi i do a club and as part of the package after the clean i charge £20 a hour plus cost of detack which i double up on hope this helps

I have done clubs in the past and offer to come in on a weekly basis at £30-£40 per hour to remove any gum. This is a great add on and keeps you in with the customer.

After removing 20 yrs worth of chewing gum from a large secondary school last year, if anyone has any large removal jobs they dont want to do give us a call we'll gladly consider them for you.
We cleaned every corridor in the school, each carpet tile must have had between 20 and 50 wads of gum.
2 hours a night after school closed for 3 weeks.
If we had charged £2 per wad, I'd have retired by now lol
