Easter weekend project.

System hit and miss when charging .. if I jiggle wires then it will work.

Didnt fit it myself and wiring very messy with scotch locks and twisted connections with tape etc etc so going to solder joints or replace if required with new wire.

Anyone know what grade of wire eg 5amp ... 10amp etc etc I need to use.

System connected directly to van battery via controller thats a split charger then onto the leisure battery so thinking it needs to be at least 10amp to match the inline fuse ?? ??

i used ordinary 1.5 twin and earth wiring,which i have a full reel sitting in the garage waiting to go to a good home

A tri-rated 1mm2 rated at 18A. The unit is fused internally at 10A. Hence the cable is more that adequately rated as the internal fuse limits current at 10A anyway.

a similar tri rated cable would be fine.

As per Ian.

If your are doing the split charge relay side as well, then the 18amp will also suffice but protected with a 15 amp fuse if the SCR is rated at 30 amp.

I have found that the alternator can charge my leisure battery with an initial peak charge of nearly 12 amps but will drop off to around 7.5 amps within a few seconds.

I think I used 17 or 18A, can't remember. Whatever you do, don't use scotch lock, they are a nightmare. They will all fail and give bad connectivity over time.

pop to your local car audio installer or halfords or motor world,  they will have a wide range of cables for wiring in audio system amplifiers to vehichle batteries. these are perfect for your split charging or leisure battery installs. normally will come with a inline fuse as well. solder all joints, NEVER scotch lock. To install a alarm system to british standards you have to solder you cannot scotch lock.
