Seem to be making a few mistakes with my CLX just lately. Last week I broke the brush socket 

Today I was doing a first clean, scrubbing the upstairs windows and all of a sudden the clamp for the angle of the brush came undone and the brush wacked against the window. This was a genuine mistake and I thought the bolt was tightened. Luckily no damage was done 

Anyway, how often do you finger tighten the bolts? Has this happened to anyone else?!

no me neither!if you use a normal standard angle adaptor there should be small "teeth" that grip the clamp together at  your chosen angle.make sure they fit in between the teeth properly then tighten.i use a flipfast with no problems.

ive never broke a brush socket in 2 years of wfp!


one thing that has happened to me on both the clx and slx poles is the odd clamp coming unstuck and needing re glueing and both poles the screw thread the angle adaptor screws onto kept coming loose.i fixed them with some araldite.good as new now.

you will always get some little niggle with a pole you use day in/day out but luckily they are very easy to fix.

I find the pole clamps need adjusting regularly (assume this is the same sort of clamp you are referring to).

Following a recommendation on here I find putting 2 wraps of ptfe tape around the bolts prevents them from working loose too often..

The teeth were all clamped together nicely, but whats a flipfast?

The socket broke as I had the pole extended leant against a wall and turned around to turn the flow off the pole smashed onto the floor. Luckily got the part needed next day!

You don't need a Flipfast if you already have the Gardiners Quick Release Resi-Neck.

If it's a new pole, then you shouldn't need to nip them up very often. Just be careful not to overtighten them at the start as you can knacker the plastic thread on the nut. If you do have the habit of overtightening the clamp, you will find they will need nipping up more often as you will stretch and wear the thread of the plastic barrel shaped nut

If ur been to heavy handed and clashing ur pole about abit . It will cause u problems .  If you are not fully opening clamps when extending and collapsing pole you will cause wear on the sections .  Their is not a need to be scrubbing windows heavily if that is the case just take ur time and take care ur pole .

I used to be heavy handed and my first pole got some major abuse and it only lasted 6 months .

I wasn't being heavy handed, I must not of tightened the bolt up properly after adjusting the angle (my mistake) will have to check they're tight a couple of times a day to make sure it doesn't happen again.
