Cut down the length of the end cap with a stanley knife then peel off,you will need the bigger size end cap(No 6 I think ?) along with the new section to make the 30'

You can also heat up the end of the pole to loosen the glue and pull off the end cap.

Here are some instructions on how to remove/replace a section that I have nicked from Alex's archives:

Remove section:
Decide which section you wish to remove and then undo and remove the lever assembly on the clamp of the section below – for instance if you want to remove section 4 you will need to undo and remove the lever arm assembly of the clamp on section No.5.completely.
Slide out the section until just before it hits the joint stop tape.
Using a small Allen key (or similar) prise the two lever arms apart and slide the section out very carefully as you slide the tape past the jaws of the clamp.

To replace the section:
Using a small Allen key (or similar) prise the two lever arms apart and slide the section in. You will need to be very careful as you slide the tape past the jaws of the clamp. It is best to slide the overlap area of the tape into the front of the clamp where the two jaws are prised apart and then when inserted carefully twist the section round so that this overlap area is at the back before sliding fully into the clamp and section.
Slide the section fully back in and re-assemble the lever assembly.

Many people do the same thing.  You would need to be careful not to over- extend with the new section attached as there won't be any joint stop tape on your existing base section.  You could add your own joint stop with tape or some people paint a red marker.  If you want to add your own joint stop tape, here is some more nicked information!:

1. Clean and dry the lower 20cm of the section.
2. At 130mm up from the base of the section wrap the PVC insulating/electrical tape around the section - do this one complete wrap around and about another quarter of a wrap, then cut the tape and neatly press down.

You would also need to have your two different sized end caps at the ready to protect the end of the pole as KS Cleaning has already said.  :)

And make sure you have enough pole hose for the extra section (s) - if not make up a small extension hose with john guest fittings. I've been doing this for years with an slx 30 used as a 20 except when I need it longer.
It's a game of three halves!

is it not a ball ache to mess around during your working day taking the pole hose out and removing base caps etc?

wouldnt it be easier to just buy a 35ft slx and use it when needed?

having say 2 poles in the van(an slx 25ft and slx 35ft?)
price higher/work harder!

I tend to cheat and just cut the glued on end cap off and then push-fit a replacement when needed - anything for simplicity. However technically it should be possible to heat the cap and glue so that it can be slid off.

Once the cap is off you can then slide on an extra section (complete with its own end cap) and this should take only a few seconds once you have dropped the pole hose out after undoing the gooseneck top quick release coupling.
