4 bar equals 60 psi. Probably only just over what you get at the tap now.

I run a pump at 140 psi. Wouldnt want to go any higher than that as most fittings and filters are only tested up to 10 bar or 150psi.

Cliff
It's a plunger type with ceramic head similar to one on a pressure washer. Italian made pump direct onto a big electric motor. Costs about £600 new and will reach 2000psi if it had enough water going into it.  I have about 5 bar coming into it with about 40 litres per minute.  it fills my 300litre tank in about 50 minutes. What have you got currently and how fast is it?

EDIT. This link is for the same pump as I have. Its rated up to 1450psi not 2000 but I think the restriction through the 4040 keeps it down anyway. I regulate the back pressure by the waste/pure ratio and run between 120 and 140 psi (about 8bar ish). the pump is direct mounted to a big electric motor. Unlike the picture you posted there is no need for an expansion/storage vessel, simply water in and out on the end of the pump in the picture.

Cliff.
Could be worth giving these guys a ring and see what the spec is on the pump. It doesnt say in the add but the original price and stainless steel aspect makes me think it could be up to the job.

Just remember if the pump draws more that 12 litres a min you could have you incoming water pipe suck flat and the water company will have your nakkers.

Hi Wizkid. I have never heard of that happening but anything is possible. i would imagine it was more likely to pull air if it couldn't get enough water but once it air locked a powerful enough pump could do that. Do you know of someone this happened to?  On the OFWAT website it states that the water boards have an obligation to give you 9 litres per minute and 0.7 to 1 bar pressure so a good pump could easily run short if someone only had that little.
