please, please, could someone please help me!
having a little problem structuring tenders/quotes on paper at the moment.
just started own business cleaning, and have had a few interested.
BUT...
they want everything in writing, as they do!

could someone please send me a copy of what you would give to a client to clinch the deal, this would apply to small offices & domestic as i am finding it hard to write down the essential bits.etc

A quotation should be set out something like this

QUOTATION

To provide cleaning works Mon to Fri

Charge per week £........  Plus VAT

52 weeks per annum

Charges are based on supplying services between Monday & Friday, all other days including Bank Holidays are excluded from this quotation (unless otherwise specified) and the necessary allowances have been made within our charges.

The above charge includes labour, supervision, chemicals and machinery.  Janitorial goods such as black bags and paper products can be supplied at an extra cost. 
 
This quotation has been prepared as a commercial bid with no provision for TUPE and we reserve the right to renegotiate the terms to cover any additional costs.

This is just one page of some of the info that you submit to commercial clients, small office contracts will obviously require less info in the quotation and personally I would not break down costs for these.

As a guess, I think your problem may have been the cost blacksheep .....

We provide cleaning for a couple of small businesses and average around £15p/h all-in.  I feel this is a fair charge for a one woman outfit and I turn in a nice profit.  If I'm reading your post correctly, your total charge per hour is over £50 

I would never add-on management, administration (same thing?!?!), insurance and materials - especially not as an itemised element.

Then again, each to his/her own and I wish you all the best.

 In short it's to protect staff on contracts that you take over do a search on google for TUPE this will give you more details.

hi there shelton, cant remeber why 55 but i do know i charge £10 per hour to £12, glad to see you charge that , i was thinking i charged to much and was sticking to my guns and not going lower then that.if i can walk to it its 10 and if i drive its 12 but you have to take into account i dont pay vat yet

TUPE - TRANSFER OF UNDERTAKINGS (PROTECTION OF EMPLOYMENT)

TUPE can apply when you win a contract which is currently staffed, in basic terms it is to do with having to take on the staff already working on site and adhere to the terms and conditions they were currently working under.

This quotation has been prepared as a commercial bid with no provision for TUPE and we reserve the right to renegotiate the terms to cover any additional costs.

I include this in my quotations as I may have submitted the quotation based on a wage of say £6.00 per hour and the current cleaners could be earning £7.00.  If TUPE applied I would have to pay £7.00 per hour therefore my quote to the client would rise.

Obviously there is alot more to it but i hope my basic explaination helps a little!

would u advise taking on a contract if they already had cleaners u had to take on??


i was asked to go and quote for a job in an office block because they were not happy with the standard of cleaning that they had then they told me that i would have to take on the cleaners that they alredy had!   doesnt make any sense to me :

I have had to take on existing cleaners MANY times in the past.

Nobody has a pool of supercleaners lying around waiting to be put into jobs. We are all recruiting from the same source.

The key is in how they are managed.

A cleaner is only as good as the supervision.
