Is it possible...
« on: March 30, 2012, 01:58:05 am »
hey guys

I'm usually in the carpet cleaning section! But i have a few questions regarding window cleaning.

A friend of mine who is out of work at the moment is looking at setting up a window cleaning biz but wants my help as he has no clue about running a business.

We where speaking about it tonight for ages and i think we have come up with quite a solid plan. (edit: after reading back what i just wrote it doesn't sound as solid... :P)

I would be more of a silent partner (profits 50/50) as i'll be providing all finances, i.e. van, wft, websites, insurance etc etc but he'll be cleaning the windows, and we will both be running the admin and marketing side of things.

Anyways, neither of us have ever cleaned a window in our lifes!  ;D so what are our chances of success???  :D

Seriously though, I am thinking of buying a large round and/or getting in a canvesser. Does anyone know of a good canversser in the Lothians area??

When it comes to rounds and setting one up, do you just start with one street at a time and build out from there? Do you target all your marketing efforts on one area till you have enough for a days work? sorry i know these sounds like daft questions.

If we try and get all customers on to 4 weekly cleans, whats the best way of getting paid? Cash (obviously the best, but collecting must be a pain and would rather spend my spare time marketing), maybe paypal? or bank transfer?

Our longterm goal is to be a multi van one day but obviously one step at a time. (famous last words..)

thanks in advance!

Cheers
Tony

Give me a call, I did the same as what you are planning 9 years ago, no reason why it can't work providing the market in your area isn't already flooded with Window Cleaners.

Start with asking your carpet cleaning customers and their neighbours if they are interested in window cleaning, this will give you an idea of the market.
