Refurbed grafter poles on eBay
« on: February 17, 2012, 10:36:15 pm »
Ok,
I've had a clx for a about a year now and it's served me fine -
But I've been seriously thinking of upgrading to a slx25

Ive Seen a grafter 28 refurbished on eBay for  £190 inc postage (I imagine they've sorted the crap clamps)

Is it still worth getting the slx?
What's the major difference?
Cheers

i bought a 24 ft one don't like the clamps as seem really flimsy and the internal orange hose is a pain in the arse as too rigid otherwise superb pole, lol i dont use it much but i do like the fact i can do a three storey hse without changing poles once because it is so short when collapsed.

Is the slx worth the extra then? My clx18 is a good pole but would like to upgrade - just thought the ionics one on eBay was a good price - there's a 24ft one that's a bit cheaper as well
Are there any clamp issues with the slx ?

It is unfair to the Grafter to compare it to the SLX as the Grafter has about 12% carbon content compared to the SLX which has 100% (the CLX has 50%).

All depends what you want from your pole/price package.

I can afford the slx - I have two poles I use regularly at the moment, clx18 and longer 26ft Brodex (which is quite heavy)
I am looking for a pole that is long enough but light enough to use all the time so I'm not switching between the two I have
Don't know why but I assumed the grafter was on the same level as the slx (always assumed the ionics poles were of a bit higher quality than some others out there) - I know all the guys on here can't speak highly enough of the slx tho so wanted a comparison/recommendation really

just put your hand in ya pocket and splash out on a 25ft SLX.THEY ARE JUST THE BEST POLE OUT THERE FOR MOST DOMESTIC WORK!!

you ll never go back to the brodex or any of the other inferior poles you have!!

i ve used a brodex 25ft hydra,20ft glass fibre streamline pole(terrible!!),unger teleplus and 22ft clx.

the SLX beats the lot of em for strength, lightness, rigidity and short closed length.go for it!!
price higher/work harder!

They were universal once i had to modify them to fit was a git to do but glad i did it now. I had to shim the end of the pole section for them to fit as they were two big then grind the midle out slightly so the clamp would close enuff then the other one had to bored out slightly and spacer in between to open it more, when i make the next one il try do a video as you cant explain it very well. To cut a long story short i made them fit
 ;D

Refurbed or not the Grafter poles have useless clamps and the rigid orange hose is not fit for purpose.

If so, then buy one.  Really, just buy one.  You'll be on here within a week talking about the SLX in the same way the rest of us do.
