As nobody else has bothered mate...I'll give you an idea of what I charge...Example: average living room, minimal staining....about 45 mins ...£50...lots of stains £60...work to a ratio of about £35 an hour in general....as you get into it, you know how long a job will take....living room and hallway £60..as a business, you need to .need to ajust your prices accordingly: The more you do, the cheaper it is on the client...can't charge £50 a room, as some try to do...another example: living room, hallway & stairs...£75...etc...be proportional in your pricing...If someone just wants stains removed...charge them what it would cost for a living room clean..dont back down on price...some of them take the pee, and theyre not worth having as customers, as they want it done for nothing....and as setting up is the worse part of a job, it's not worth it....I'm sure ppl on here won't agree with what I say, but some will.

Hi Andy

I want to jump in here - If I may...
Hope you can help me as I am also looking at expanding into carpet cleaning in 2006. I'm also in the window cleaning trade.

How do you go about - machine , training , marketing wise for your carpet cleaning? What market reasearch can you advise?  Any tips for a newbie???

Cheers
Pierre

A lot of carpet cleaners charge by square foot or square metre .

This can be adjusted acording to standards of clean required,

Some Carpet Cleaners have low prices and clean in all markets, other go exclusively for top end clients and charge accordingly.

Others have a high price and discount .

In my area some charge 10p a square foot while others charge 40p

If you do a search you will find a poll on pricing.

I could lead you to it but I think it is important to learn about the search function on this Forum.

In the Early Hours of today I was seaching Cleantalk another Forum an I found  a two part Begginers Start Up Guide written in 2001 by Dennis from Gorleston  by the Sea.

There is also comment by other Experinced Cleaners on some on the asumptions.

But in my opinion it is worth a look.

If you find a posting you want clarrification on you can always add a reply.
