best brush for conny roofs, fascia etc
« on: February 10, 2012, 12:02:37 pm »
so ivew been avoiding doing anymore gutter and facsia clean because its so much hard work and ypu get drenched  >:(

but laterley ive been thinking about canvassing for some more of this type of work as i reson there is decent money to be had in it

so my question is what is the best brush to use for this type of work? cos at the moment i put a vikan (breeze block  ;D) sill bush on my slx-30 and its just too bloody heavy. by the way my everyday window brush is a superlight extreme, standard.

i was looking at those new gardiners cill brush and thinking that could be my answer?

any advice/comments welcome as usual!

thanks for reading

george

then again i might go for the medium bristles cos i recon the stiff might scratch plastic and polycarbonate conservatory roofs
as has been talked about on hear before!

 :-\

p.s this is just like being out shining... im talking to myself all day!  ;D seriously though, im getting bad for having nearly full blown conversations with myself at work  ;D

GB I have the same set up as you.

I use a superlite for everyday window cleaning, and a vikan sill brush for connies, fascias etc.  I agree with you that the vikan is a pig to use compared to a superlite.

I have been having the same thoughts and am just about to buy the gardiners superlite sill (the one for connies etc) so if it is any assurance someone else is thinking the same as you!

I will be buying the medium bristles.

Cheers, Mike

I have both vikan stiff and vikan medium bristled brushes and actually find the medium more effective.

I use the medium extreme for gutters/fascias,
1:  its light
2:  because it has a small head stock, i find it gets in all the nooks 'n' crannies
Better than even the superlite

Yep, just the extreme.
Didnt like the sill brush.
If a con roof is only a bit grubby, i use the extreme.
If its reasonably dirty, i use a s/lite mono,
If its mingin', i use a modified superlite, with the outer, longer bristles, cut down so the're level with the inner bristles for a really hard scrub.
Ive used the last brush to remove ingrained lichen.
Also, all these are cleaned using hot water & no pretreatment

thanks alot steve, this sounds like good advice! i still recon im gonna get a gadiners sill brush though and i recon while im buying i'll try one of those new scapper attactments and one of resi swivel things!

i like your idea about the modified brush cutting down the longer outer bristles! i might give that go too

thanks again
