OPERATION GEKA FITTING
« on: February 09, 2012, 07:00:45 pm »
As I only have a length of 1" transferr hose laid out in the garden, with no garage to keep it warm I could be bang in trouble if we keep having sustained cold snaps like this, so bought some GEKA fittings I have cut a short length of 1" hose that only comes about half way up my static (who am i kidding? 3 linked rain butts  ) so when it does freeze this should be ok as only the top couple of inches freeze at worst. I then have geka on a piece of 1/2" hose then going in to a hozelock reel with 1/2" hose on so i can bring it in during the cold weather this way at least i will be able to get water to the van. did all this lastminute.com this afternoon when i realised i wasnt gonna be able to get any water in the van  luckily we have a good hose & hydraulics place in town that stock these which were way cheaper than what i had looked at online. anway just thought i would share, sorry if its boring!

Actually, no Cleancare, not boring at all; that's a very good idea.

I've just went to the trouble of fitting an immersion heater in my van and I was thinking about my IBC during cold spells.

I mean even if the water in there isn't frozen, if the water in my hose is frozen, then I can't get it out.

I could just cut off my hose where it comes out of the top of the IBC and fit a female hoselock connection and then fit a female one to the other end of my hose, which I could store somewhere warm during cold spells.

Thanks.
