Sorry guys but those in line heaters are useless. I had one before I went TM on my Cheyanne 3, I gave up on it after a couple of weeks struggling to get a decent hot flow, which when it came lasted for about 30 seconds before losing it again. It seems they just dont work fast enough to cope with the flow. The water needs to remain in the unit to heat up, but quickly empties when you pull the trigger to be replaced by cooler water. You then have to let this heat up and so, on. Tried  lots of ways to prime the thing, but it couldnt cope. It ended up taking longer to try and get a hot water flow than to clean the carpet.

I bought myself a new top of the range Ninja and portable steam mate. Arrived on 23rd Dec.

Had  a play with the rugs at home and was VERY impressed.
Been using a 7 year old 100 psi Ninja with two 3 stage heavy duty vacs (american import) till now but it has blown it's socks off.

Not used the steam mate yet but have a pub to clean in Jan and am looking forward to seeing what it can do.

Great customer service by Martin Ashby by the way.

Happy new year all...

Hi Guys (Happy Christmas to you all)
We have had top of the renge NiNja for some times now and i must say is a good machine, and  we also have the portable steam mate which is designed for up to 400 P.S.I. for some times.
Ever since we had this steamer it has gone wrong about five to six times in three years and when the gurantee runs out . They charge you arm and leg to repair it so now we hardly use it.
And yes steve you are so right about martin Ashby. after he has sold you any items he is not intrested in any complain which you would have. in my opinion their after sale need to improve a lot.

Great machine!  Can’t comment on external, mine internal and just given up the ghost after 5yrs but sadly have to concur with Steve, (Kent police have a better attitude and that’s saying thing!  Sorry Derek :()

Never looked forwards to cleaning any pub carpet even with a T/M and that’s like a hot knife through butter??

Believe one has to send it back for it oil change? So don’t forget and then cry wolf!

Lucky me I live local! ;D

Looking at your profile web page dose not work on clicking on it? However I got there! Nice site, but a bit concerned on your stain removal not into buck passing but I suppose it keeps down the reproductions not me!!! Hope you and a friend get my drift! By the way thought a disclaimer would be beneficial.  This is not a pop just an observations, being in a claim society as we are! ;D

When using an inline heater, best results are obtained by placing it as close to the tool as possible, rather than at the exit from the machine.

I have to agree, that they are only really effective in short bursts and incapable of coping with a powerfull machine.

I also have a Ninja with built in heater and it's coped pretty well with most tasks, but not having auto fill/dump is a pain.

Still say that the best machine I've ever owned was the CFR....
