Following on from Erith's thread I'd like to know what your figures are regarding new customers and where they come from regarding advertising.

Personally I think Domestic and Commercial customer gathering needs to be split for now, lets look at domestic first please.

everybody should try a bit of all that list,then you can settle on what works best  for a while then switch strategy . i hated door knocking (but got good results) so i  fell back on leafletting. 4 yrs in to this biz  i now employ 2 parttimer leafletters and a considering doing a leafletting service as a sideline after somebody asked me what i charge

if you pick up 2 or 3 jobs, monthly work more so, then the web stuff has paid for its self!

i website is nothing special, knocked up a temp one at mo, but i get work of tinternet
and my wife gets work of the internet with her site which piggy backs on my site at
http://nailomi.co.uk  (a shamelless link i know  )

most people use internet to look for stuff, and you have to think ahead!!

but u didn't have in pole people seeing you at wor and coming across....

I'd say 75 percent is word of mouth, and 20 percent from people seeing us at work, leaving 5 percent as other..... but we haven't leafleted for 7 years, so will see what happens when we start next month!

ironically, most traffic thru website is from existing customers wanting to get in touch!

Ive found that the best method is leafleting, followed by being approched as a result of working on these houses.

Ive never advertised in any other way for domestic work.
