Mr Mums
« on: January 31, 2012, 04:25:38 pm »
Hi

Is anyone else out there doing school runs for their kids around their windows round?

Just wondering how you organize your round?

I send text's but try to keep to a minimum.

Does anyone not text at all?

If so how do you do that?
i.e if custy not in do front and side for min charge, then do back if custies in or can unlock gate or get over without aggro?

This is now what i am thinking of doing.
Try to get £10 front and side on semi's/detached houses and do back if in.

I'm sure i can achieve these prices where i live, currently takes 5 weeks to get round.

Don't know wether to tweak to monthly by dropping some of the worse work/ or push cleans out to 6 weeks to push up current custy prices with new ones :-\

Any advice please.
Thanks
Lee

Hi mate, this is something i've looked at myself. So far what i've found best is to just look at the phone and do not pick it up. Working for me at the minute anyway.

I try to keep my time in my hands a possible I will not meet a customer at a certain time they just need to keep the gate open so I can come as it suits me. I do text the night before I save the text as a draft/template so its easy to send. It reads like this. This is a "Automated message from WINDOW WIZARD." and cannot receive Messages. We will be around to clean your window tomorrow Wednesday could you please close window and open all gates.Thank you Window Wizard".Going back a second time cost money. If the gate is closed I will clean front and charge a the full price. This is all part of the service and it states so in my T.Cs

One of the reasons why I do this work is the flexibility.  I'm lucky enough to be able to get up with my daughter, have breakfast with her then take her to school for 8.50.  I then do the work during the day then also pick her up from school at 3.

I don't have a full round at the mo but it's getting there-but I still wouldn't work beyond her school finish time- that's our time and I make the most of it.

As for texting, I do have 3 clients left who I still text because I need to gain access.  I used to have more but I dumped a few because I kept getting the 'can you leave it this time' and I can't have that whenever they feel like it.  I also use the text template function wizkid does as it save a lot of time.  Any new custies where access is needed I now explain that if a gate is locked I will try to climb over carefully with a ladder or do the fronts/sides only at a reasonable proportion of the full price.

This is how i will now tie up my round.

Thanks wizkid, how do you do that with the text so they can't respond?

As Carl said, it is not that the custy can't respond to the text, but that you put in the text something along the lines of 'this is an automated text message, responses are not monitored so please do not reply'.  We all get automated texts and emails these days that can't be responded to so the idea is that they think they can't respond because their message won't be monitored or read.  Down there for dancing!

My daughter goes to high school this year so no doubt she'll be going there and coming home with her friends and I'll be dumped lol.   ;D

So yes, the time with her now is important enough to come first- you're doing the right thing so nice one- enjoy it coz it'll be gone in the blink of an eye.
