« on: January 17, 2012, 02:22:14 pm »
hey, I was wondering if any of you who employ others or have the relevant experience on this issue, if you have any tips and instructions on how i'd go about employing others and any systems on how it would work, payment methods, hourly rates, equipment, financial issues, pitfalls etc. etc.

what is needed to make it work.

thanks

my tip do not employ family, friends or kids

Payment method, in the bank monthly

pitfalls: most staff do not treat your equipment like you do, so add in a contract should they damage things then they will pay for them (surprising this cuts down on damage)
Hourly rates depend on what you can afford to pay, you will need cash flow to pay this so this needs to be worked out in detail.
If your not willing to learn, No one can help you, If you are determined to learn, No one can stop you ;)

i;m paying my new guy for 8 hrs work for a full day, and he has a work list to complete.  that means i know exactly what my monthly outgoings are, and that it s motivating for him to work fast and get off.

paying him min wage for trail period of 12 weeks ( igave him a 1 week unpaid trial as part of the recruitment process).  after 12 weeks he'll stay on min wage but have bonus for each new client he signs up (gets the first clean price in full), and will get £50 /month bonus for having 100% attendence and looking smart etc.

That's some really helpful information, thankyou.

What size round do you realistically need to have to say employ two people full time? And can It be done on purely houses, or is it more realistic to have commercial work?
