pot of paint
« on: December 15, 2005, 07:27:24 am »
oops, a decorator rang me asking if i would go and look at a carpet for him,
apparently whilst working he had knocked over a pot of oil based paint.
What did he do? his customer was out so scrapes it up then out comes the turps, spirits and any thing else he uses to clean his brushes ; :'(  :'(
then he quite happily leaves the premises saying nothing to his customers thinking he had covered the episode up :'( now obviously he recieved a call , and thats when he rang me.
Off i go , take a look at carpet , an area of around 2sq. ft. looked horredous.not alot of paint , but a patch that would never in my opinion improve, the area had rippled and looked fuzzed, prob by rubbing the hell out of it.
Upon checking backing , its a felt backed so told custy the rippling could improve but nothing else could be done,
He was adamant I tried , I refused and told him the reasons, he was very persistant i gave it ago, in the end he agreed.
Now I was wondering why he was so insistent? Guess what the decorator had no insurance. So pleased i never bothered ;D

Same thing happened with me a good number of years ago, the painter had spilt on the floor in the Hallway and reied to clean it up, he also was not insured!!

I pre-conditioned him that the stain may not come out (it didn't), he went home that night not knowing what to do because the H/S/L was large so he covered the marks up with his dust sheets, he later told me that he had a totally sleepless night because of what had happened. To make things worse he went the next day too without telling his client, anyhow when she came home from work that day he plucked up enough courage and told her, she replied " Don't worry love we are replacing it when you have finised decorating!!"
I get better looking each day!!
