Supposed to flush weekly, for like an hour or something.

I had mine going for several months without real flushing and tds didnt rise  :-\ , but apparently little and often is the best, i try to do mine for 10 to 15 minutes every week.  Or thats the plan.  Just as important is looking after your prefilters, changing them regularly.

Flushing is flushing your RO unit on full waste.

Backwash is regenerating your water softener resin with salt.

Thats the way i understand it.

I flush my RO for about 5 -10 minutes on full waste every time I make 1000 litres of pure which is roughly once a week. I regenerate my water softener after making 1000 litres of pure also.

I had a backwash last night while having a bath. I definately can confirm you don't need the tap full on to have a back wash.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.
