What do you class as a slow payer ?
« on: December 24, 2011, 08:51:26 am »
My current criteria is 30 days or 1 clean but thinking about dropping it to 14 days for 2012.

Will take a little more admin but job for missus.

Do you sent a reminder letter to slow payers ?

six months was my worst one, then there's the ones who've never paid.

I don't like them going over 3 months really. up to 2 cleans is fine. had some go 5 months, feel that is taking the pee.

don't mind so much if they r long term customers, don't like newer ones doing it tho.

quite lucky, hardly had any non payments, just 3 and 1 non traceable mover in 8 years.

My bills request payment within 14 days.  However, I only really regard it as slow if it takes over a month.  A few longer term customers pay me two cleans at once and an even smaller number pay 3 at a time.  Some only pay when they see me but I do put a large reminder with the bill if they are out on the third clean.
I am more lenient with longer term customers than with newer ones.
Cash flow wise, it's not so terrible because  you don't get paid one month but another customer is paying 2 or 3 cleans so it balances out.  I would prefer all customers to pay their bills within my 14 day request but life isn't like that.

Excellent = pay by return
Good = pay within a week
OK = pay within a fortnight
Slow = not paid by the next monthly clean.
Poor = not paid by the next two monthly clean
Dumped - worse than above.
It's a game of three halves!

I catagorise off more than time they take to pay.

I know with some people that when i catch them whether it be 1 clean they owe or 5 cleans i know i will get the money. I also know with some that i have a slim chance of being paid 1 clean so they to me are a bad payer.

I also have arrangements with some customers that they pay their bill on a given day of the month when they are paid. I have 3 customers who pay quarterly and some that now pay 3 months in advance

If i have to call back for money and they are out I leave a sorry I missed you slip and tell the will catch them next time . I reason this saves me time/fuel and Im 99% they are going to pay anyway ,its just my timing. I dont really like to miss em because for myself I think cash is getting to be old fashioned way to pay and even wealthy folk dont keep much cash around the house.
So in myview they are not slow payers its more me that hasnt organised to collect when they happen to be in ,I have some pay DD but not keen on that either - in fact Im just hard to please anyway when it comes to cash .
I dont have any that have gone more than three months -well I did have one old boy but he is history - he was just going senile and I felt sorry for him - still hasnt paid me but I ll get over it -was only £8.00 ;D

Just had one pay up in full from December 2009.

Is diabolically slow and is this is exceptional but always pays up in the end.

£25 house that takes about 20mins probably should drop it but it sets the benchmark for late payers.
