question for larger companys
« on: November 15, 2011, 05:54:26 pm »
how long have you been established and at what point did you realise you had a fair sized business and how did you get to that point, what did you do in early days to do the work and build the business

im looking for some inspiration i am going to give it one big push again thru this winter and pull in some good contracts and see where the business is next spring

Hi

JVP was started by my old man 42 years ago as a 1 man band, 28 years ago it employed its first member of staff who is still with the company and now the Ops Director, my dad took the business from 40k turnover 28 years ago to 600k 5 years ago when I bought the business from him. My Dad always said he knew the business was going places when he had to stop my mum from doing the accounts as she wanted a new car, house and holidays in the states.
I worked in the business for 5 years before I bought it from the tea boy to ops manager since buying the business it has grown to a 2million turnover and employs 30 staff.

I would say that the point so far where I knew I had a sizable business was when we had offices built,

How did we get here?

Through hard work, attention to detail and a can do attitude, one thing I'm pround to say is it has been a team effort.

The best bit of advice I can give is you will get out of a business what you put in, also have time away from work as that is where my next idea comes to me.

All the best and good luck for the future
