price increase in the new year guys?
« on: November 09, 2011, 11:59:00 pm »
i put nearly all my prices up last year some by as much as a fiver.most a quid or two.i still have lots of very compact work that needs some more price increases though.

as was mentioned in another thread  i made the mistake of not putting up prices for years.lack of confidence and fear of losing a load stopped me in my tracks!!

i have adopted a new attitude over the last few years and my service has become better, more professional and with the investment in wfp i can earn more in a day in the same (or less!)time than when i was trad only.

i reckon a pound right across my compact estate work with some as much as a £4 rise with a "take it or leave it" ultimatum.some of these are left from the bad old days of my former life as a cheap  trad only window cleaner.(grudge cleans!)

i have picked up a fair bit of work in 2 years that is much better priced but the older estate work is still way behind.good solid compact run of the mill work though but could be better.

i reckon im gonna go for it.tell em in march and new prices starting from april coupled with canvassing some new better priced work.

im still doing ok earnings wise.in fact im earning more than i ever have in this game but overheads have shot up and i get the feeling i could be earning a fair bit more than i do at present.

im in a transitional period in my business and dont want to get into resting on my laurels which in all honesty i have been doing of late thinking "im earning enough".

wfp has made a massive difference to my work day and i have gaps appearing at the end of each month which ive been filling with doing my flat up and jobs for my girlfriend as shes really ill at the moment but next year i want to at least fill another 2 days with work a month and maximize my working days by working smarter not harder.

what do you think guys?any of you lot in a similar situation?

best wishes to you all

Same here as regards to price increases for next year.

Got some early jobs where didnt charge enough for connies so their going up by about 4 to 5 quid.

Everything else by £1 or £2

Ive put a few up over the last 2 months some by £2 others by £5 these are jobs where wasnt bothered if they cancelled or not for various reasons i.e. vastly underpriced or too far from main part of rounds or just dont like them - NONE cancelled !

Got my increases worked out already and use notes section on George to keep a note.

All prices going up by 10% in April. But then again as we are 1 scrim tradders who dont take it seriously (our t/o is only £120,000 pa) what does it matter!! ;D ;D

Yes it's a must for me too... How and what's the best way of doing a small price increase just by telling custys on the door or doing a small flyer attach to the monthly invoice???

I just write on the bottom of their usual bill ( I always do it when they are not home so i dont get into awkward negotiations, because there is no negotiation..its my price or we part company) anyway i write this..."please note as of our next visit a small price increase to £.."

No plans to increase the prices next year, happy with the prices we charge so don't feel the need next year. Not going to raise them just for the sake of it.
Come and talk dirty to us!!!

Only put the prices up if you can afford to lose them is a good rule for us .

I've just put most of mine up a quid, nearly all so far have accepted, one asked to go from 3 to 6 weekly and wasn't happy when I put it up a bit more for the longer frequency. Another said he understood but times are hard so asked me not to  do conservatory, which is fine. So all in all a success so far. I've got another third of my round left to put up but can't foresee any issues, and to think I've been putting this off for ages

All I did was print a few short notes up explaining the price increase then wrote in the new price and posted it. If they were in I just told them easy.

OR if you cant afford to lose them it may be that you need to put your prices up.

it does actually! he's hinting that maybe if you charged more you could afford to loose some I think!

I'm going to hang on til next year, then make it worth the wait with a 15 percent I think. people Loosing jobs everywhere and Getting pay cuts, got to be sensible. will hang tight until nxt Christmas then go for it.

we write a short letter detailing date of last rise (time flies, they think you only put it up 6 months ago!), any updates with business, and a friendly thank you for your continued custom.
