having recived info from a well known supplier of detergents to the cleaning industry,i was shocked to see a extraction liquid with the wool safe stamp, this product has a ph value of 12.5ph.

Why is everyone so cryptic ::) why not just say you've bought some Formula 90 from Chemspec  ;)

it has a high Ph in its concentrated form, but as it is'nt buffered its Ph can be altered by dilution, at over 600-1 it is woofsafe approved.

why are you so bothered, I hear you spray everything with Craftex Champion which has a Ph of a million :o :o

Hi Guys,

Mike may be right about the dilution being the key,  but it is worth noting that a study found alkalinity to be more important than pH.

I am not sure of the Woolsafe testing criteria but assuming nothing is excluded on pH alone , it could be a very lightly buffered solution which is quickly neutralised by the acidity of the wool , so that it is considerd safe.

Cheers

Doug

Also woolsafe products do not contain optical brightners.
