Shouldn't YOUR insurance pay?

Shouldn't YOUR insurance pay?

depends on the excess and cost of replacement, may not be the best thing to claim on the insurance.

In answer to the original question, the business should pay, as that is who is responsible.
Been with you for 5 years, have you had any other issues with this chap? NO, then you are very lucky. :)

you are the one who has to pay,  your lucky your employee didn't get hurt as he would have had every right to sue you.

I take it you did a risk assessment before the accident ?

I slipped once and put a ladder through a small window, I was working for a legit company. They paid and then took £5.something a week from my wages. That rule applied to all the workers. That was for small claims bigger claims went through the insurance.

It's up to you how you deal with it.

Me personally since he's been working for you for such a length of time I would suffer the cost if I knew it was a genuine accident. But I would make everyone aware in future if they break things it could cost them not you.

After 5 years of service and you making money you want to charge me.
Take it out of my wages and I promise you as a matter of prinsiple it will cost you double.

you should pay, I would note what happened and make sure your employee is working in a safe manner. But at the end of the day as said above,
you are the employer you pay.
