Has anyone got a combo crew van
« on: October 15, 2011, 08:42:54 am »
hi

need to get a van and i have been looking at the combo crew vans i can get a good one for around £4000 - 5000
i have worked out the weight and i think i will be ok

                  ladder = 20kg
      my daughters = 150kg  ( actuall weight for my three girls is under 90kg but they keep bloodly growing  ;D ;D )
Bucket and cloths = 10kg
                    poles =  4kg
                    driver = 80kg (65kg really  ;D )
210 ltr water tank = 220kg
               fuel tank = 25kg
      4x 25ltr drums = 100kg
              hose reel = 25kg
                   Trolley = 25kg

                     total is 659kg

is this right or have i missed some thing out the 25ltr drums will only be taken on the days i need them. i only put £25 of fuel in at a time plus my daughters will only be in the van when its full for 10-20mins school run.

i don't want to buy a bigger van if i don't need it what do you think.

thanks erithwc

i think you might actually struggle to fit in a 210l tank and four 25l barrels in the load area in a crew van as with the rear seats in there isnt that much room behind them, i think with all that weight you might put the rear axle over its limit, are you starting out wfp or do you have a set up already? personally i wouldnt bother with barrels there a pain in the A,

If it was my van i'd have a 250l upright tank professionally fitted with a metal frame by purefreedom as with that tank its not that wide so will leave you the most amount of room in the load area for your hose reel and other bits and i would make a sort of wooden bulkhead to seperate the load area from the rear seats with a couple of holes through for your poles which can rest on the shelf above the windscreen,

the 250l tank is only 32cm wide where as the 210l is 43cm wide

i already have a pure freedom trolley and a 06 plate ford fiesta which is nolonger big enough i have three daughters as well thats why i need a crew van.  the 4 drums were going to go in the foot wells and i would only be put the in the van when i need the extra water  :)
