PTFE spray
« on: October 11, 2011, 05:44:31 pm »
So i bought some for the carbon poles but have a tiny question..

Someone here mentioned furniture polish was just the same...but i find PTFE spray to be ever so slightly oily in texture

so with furniture polish i would spray on and then wipe off to a nice smoothe finish

do we do this with PTFE spray?

it says on the tin to just spray on at 20cm distance...but nothing about wiping off

i found it too sticky when i left it on...but smoothe when i wiped off after....but does this remove too much of the product?

cheers j

It sounds like you have bought a spray can of PTFE-enriched oil based lubricant which is not recommended for use on carbon fibre poles. The penetrating effect of the lubricants can have a detrimental effect on the build-up of the material if used regularly.

The PTFE lubricant which is recommended is Dry-Film PTFE spray lubricant. This sprays on and within 20 seconds flash dries to leave just a thin, slightly white, film of dry PTFE on the surface of the pole.
