We personally say we have bills 12 months of the year and only offer a 12 monthly service. Might offer every other month (for slight rise) for a very good customer but very unlikely.
It's usually not the very good customers who ask for it anyway in our experience. It's the 'not this month' brigade most of the time so good bye to them!
Can see why some people would just go with it as it is hard to get to everyone but I think if they are happy to drop you over the winter then they are just as likely to drop you if they get a quote 50 pence cheaper as well.
If they say they are skint then they can just ring us and we may or may not take them back on but probably not!

Have only been going 5 years but in this time I have learn't to work that I will turn-over 10% of my round in new customers, drops, drop-deads, movers etc...this also includes those who want a winter break...

I say yes but will treat them as a new customer with a new price and will need to charge them extra for the additional time the clean takes if I am able to fit them in as I am now full.

But as some of the old-sweats have said ...there are more people wanting a window cleaner than there are shiners...

This question of what to do when approached really depends on how your round is and what you want from it....

Customers are like cow's....milk them...wait then milk them again and repeat..when the cow stops producing either take it home as a pet or cull it.

Cheers and Happy Christmas
Dave.

I dont refuse them, if they want me back just in the summer thats fine. I just make it clear that the price they currently pay is for a regular window clean, and that requires having the service regularly throughout the year. If they cancel and want to re book next year its 2.5 times the old price on the new clean, plus a new higher price throughout the summer that reflect demand.
