You can use the software on your pc / mac.

Windows Movie Maker or iMovie.

For HD vids you will need plenty power under the hood to save loads of time.

I have a Flip HD and it is decent enough. I also have a Sony Nex5 digital camera that does 1080p vids.

The vids on my YouTube Channel (not the slideshow) www.youtube.com/user/absolutefloorcare are shot using the above 2 and edited with iMovie.

I use the serif x5 software, easy use, loads of options on videoing and stills. Options on music and text, there's a demo on there website as well.

The Flip and similar cameras are fine. They are only a problem if you haven't got decent light. Sounds like you are lookng for an excuse to buy a nice camera through the business.  ;D
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Justin,

If you are making "carpet cleaning2 videos, i.e. close ups of slow moving stuff then you cannot go wrong with something like this...

http://www.maplin.co.uk/full-hd-camcorder-with-12x-optical-zoom-503266?ordercode=B42NG

If you want something better (especially with an external microphone socket - vital for good sound) then you are looking at say Panasonic at £ 350 +

the most vital thing is a tripod.

I love this little beast for onsite stuff.
So easy to just chuck in pocket and attach to something for shooting.

Yep.

Aldi did them as a special a while ago for about eight pounds.
