need a bit of advice . i have my reel on top of my flat tank , i want to secure it so does not move . but it cannot be permanent as i take my reel out on freezing nights . is there some sort of clamp or clip from the local b&q . i will have to secure it to some wood on top of the tank . which is the best way to secure the wood . this can be put on permanent . anyone do owt simillar , cheers barry

mine is a piece of wood strapped to tank with a ratchet strap, and I made clamps from cheap angle brackets from screwfix, they just bend to secure or bend then straight to release, these are screwed into the wood and at the front of the piece of wood is a cheap hose lock roller to make it easier winding in

cheers wise owl . i had something like that pictured in my head , the ratchet straps are a great idea . nice n cheap n simple . and the roller to finish it off , it shouldnt keep me out of the pub too long on saturday iether , nice one

Pipe clips - the ones that clip over the pipe and lock, not the open ones.

Barry Mate drill some hole through your tank and secure it to the floor, mine never moved again. GOOD LUCK.

Top tip . . . . .  buy some ladders and you can continue without clamps and you will be able to walk straight too without the chafing

I screwed mine into tank with pipe holders, tanks are thick, neither have moved.

If you did an emergency stop, wouldn't the reels hit you in the back of the head?

The best way by far is to get a jigsaw and cut a hole the size of the trolley in the top of the tank, Then you can put the trolley in the tank.

This has 3 great points.

1. It stops water from the trolley leaking in your van and in stead goes back into the tank.

2. The trolley also doubles up as an extra baffle.

3. You can lift the trolley out when ever you want.

What you do is:-

Get a jigsaw cut the whole top of the tank out and let the hose reel sit in the bottom of the tank. When the tank is full the water surrounding the reel and hose will keep it from freezing due to the sheer volume of water. When it is low on water the reel and hose will slosh about but only into the sides and ends of the tank.

Best of both worlds.
