gardiners 8mm OD tubing problems
« on: September 17, 2011, 08:03:26 pm »
i recently bought the gardiners Push Fit Quick-Fit pole control valve
....which meant i needed to but their tubing to fit it

first problem...as soon as i push and secure the tubing into the tap...it pulls out with the slightest tug

second problem...the tubing itself is tacky to touch...so it nots up on itself and doesnt come free by pulling it gently

so...

am i doing something wrong in fitting the tap?

and does the rubber wear in eventually, allowing it to run smoothly, without sticking to itself?

helkp much apreciated :)

Just over a quid each.

I'v always used these for my connections, even before they were main-stream.

Not quite true, push fit plumbing is used more than end feed these days. There is some superb push fit technology out there now. Yorkshire "tectite sprint & pro" are the bees knees- I can assure you that you will not get one of these off a copper pipe without destroying the pipe itself! Leak free, rock solid reliability! ;)

All my wfp system push fits are also leak free & rock solid.

you can get little plastic stents or collars that push into the end of the tubing to hold its shape stiff for use wit push fit fittings.
WE CLEAN BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT WITH WATER FED POLE WHEN WORKING AT HEIGHT.

Yep you definately need these and a couple of spares - no more wet legs and the hose stays put.
