New radius sill brush my obsavations
« on: September 13, 2011, 02:33:46 pm »
Radius sill brush flat cut medium  I bought a radius sill brush last week. I would like to share observations with you guys.
At first look its seem a little small and yet still does a good job. The brush splays very well, maybe to well. As I feel it flattens out on the glass without any pressure on the pole. Setting the rite angle is so important as its quite easy to set it to high and then it will not work as a sill brush. I cannot fault the cleaning result. I have my doubts how long I will last as after three days light work the bristles  are showing signs of distortion. They are not in straight in lines anymore. I also feel there should be more bristles per pod to add support and stiffness to the brush. Maybe the red stiff brush in the range would be a better buy. I just think fore 49 quid brush + vat and postage it will be difficult finding value. I am not trying to knock Gardeners as I have the greatest respect for there ingenuity when it comes to new ideas. But this one I feel needs more development.

I feel the weight is not problem in fact you do not even feel the brush on the pole at al. It seems the bristles will flatten out and the brush will hold its shape.Which will need to be replaced to quickly. There is less bristles in each tuft.

Hi Wizkid

This brush has had a lot of development and has been in continuous use with myself and our testers for many months now, so we are confident about it long term use.

We try to put enough bristles on all of our bristles to provide a good clean, but not too many to add weight - it is a balancing act as bristles make up more than 50% of the weight of these brushes.

I am surprised by your comments that the bristles are showing signs of distortion after 3 days use - are you using this with a hot water system? If so what temperature is the water at the brush head? These brushes are not designed for hot water systems although many users find they work with modest temperatures. There will be future versions specifically for hot water use as hot water use has very different needs and characteristics compared to standard cold water use.

If you have any further concerns please feel free to email me on alex@agardiner.co.uk .

Hi Alex  am using cold water and the out two rows are not straight. They are wavy. My super lite i got from you fellows nearly 3 year in Dec is as good as new with very little wear and tear.

If with continued use you are still concerned about it please email me a photo so that I can have a look at it.

I will add my bit to this.

I have 2 poles working and have put a dual trim medium on each pole (the white bristles), I also have quite a concern about how long these brushes will last, they seem to be holding shape (just) but have continuosly lost bristles for the 2 weeks they have been in use.

While they clean very welll and do a good job on fascias, I feel that they may not be man enough for the amount of use they get on a 5/6 day week.

If they do not manage to last at least 2 months, then I think I may well have to go back to a heavier and cheaper Vikan, because at £40+ a brush they need to last for a good while.

the supalite dual trim flocked is the best gardiners brush IMO.light, sturdy and the bristles are still in good shape after 8 months.the mono is used for fascia/conny roofs.also a good brush.

supalite extreme flocked is ok but a bit too weedy for my liking.comes down to personal preference really.

not tried a sill brush yet but i will in the future.the mono/flocked and extreme brushes should keep me going for a while yet though! ;) ;D ;D
price higher/work harder!

I use Extreme soft black brushes - I didn't think they'd last a week! Still using them months on. I thought they were rubbish but I've been proved wrong. Don't use anything else unless I go hot.

I agree with you wizkid on this, I've bought a dual trim medium sill, been using it 3 weeks, losing some bristles and the ones to the edges are losing their shape a little bit. Time will tell.

I got one of the black extreme brushes and didn't like the look of it at first so didn't use it for 3 weeks. Tried it last wk and now I think it is brilliant however it has lost quite a bit of bristle already so will have to see how it goes. (I use cold water.)
