Bonnet / Orbital
« on: September 10, 2011, 02:20:16 pm »
OK, so I've been mulling this over last few days and I'm getting further away from a decision, not closer.

I'm looking to introduce carpet bonneting as a service, as well as tile & grout cleaning. This isn't going to be a main part of the work I do, but it will be often enough to need decent equipment. Ideally, the machine for this would be suitable for heavy duty agitation of prespray also (for pub/restaurant blacktop etc), WITHOUT being too heavy (I'd like to keep it around 20kgs if possible).

So far, I've narrowed it down to the following:
Oreck Orbiter XL / Cleanfix Floormac
Numatic Loline (330 or 415)
Nilco 330

Would anyone care to share their experience of any of the above machines, as well as filling me in ith pros and cons of them? I was all but settled on an Oreck or Floormac, but I just know it won't be heavy enough for regular carpet bonneting (or am I mistaken?)

Any help would be much appreciated.

And also, if you could all tell me to clean some carpets, that would also be fab :D

Ash the oreck/floormac is far too lightweight for any serious agitation or bonneting.

Any of the others, get a shampoo brush for the best agitation and a drive plate for the bonnet pads.

I find the microfibre pads absorb loads and do very well....

Oh yes.......................

Thanks for that, I'm fully motivated now  :P

Do you think I could ditch the duo if I get one of the smaller rotaries, or are they too big for general agitation?

I suppose I could go back to brush for light soil, and rotary for anything worse?

ps I know I'm asking a lot from one machine, but space really is at a premium, and the more I can do with any equipment the better!

I have a 15 inch rotary and a 17 inch rotary.

Use the 15 inch on majority of domestics, only use the shampoo brush on the mingers, use the stripey agaitation bonnets on the rest.

Would use a duo if I had one as I think it does a better job than the agitation bonnet, but not as good a job as the shampoo brush.

Shampoo brush is overkill in a lot of situations.

hope I have made things as clear as mud now   ;D ;D

The agitation pads dont do a good a job as a Duo? Thats interesting, I thought that with the weight and speed, a rotary would p*ss all over the Duo, regardless of pad?

Maybe there's a call to keep the duo then..

Cheers for the input btw

Hector,
Could you tell me what these brushes would be used for?

I'm assuming that the brush formerly known as White is for scrubbing carpets?

What about the darker one?

And I'm assuming the red part is some kind of drive plate?

Thanks

psychic powers say white is vanilla flavour, and brown is chocolate.....   ;D

aha

the softest one I would say is shampoo brush, depends on how stiff the brown ones are, maybe used for hard floor cleaning (not done that for nearly 20 yrs now) and the red bit of plastic may be the drive board...

think I prefered the psychic answers better
