Backpack. Worth it?
« on: July 08, 2011, 03:47:04 pm »
Hi

I have a van mount but have some work where i feel im wasting time reeling hose outand some work wher hoses really get in teh way like terrace houses. So i am interested in getting a wcw backpack for those awkward jobs.

Some days i wouldn't use it other days i have work where it could be used half a day. I was thinking of carying 25l containers i can pour into the backpack to fill it.

So for those that have had or use backpacks.

How useful your backpack has been to you? Does it save time? Is time saved reeling hoses spent filling the backpack? How is the weight on your back? So on.

Thanks

Andrew

great things, can go anywhere you can. buy a £20 sack truck & a bungee and you have a trolley system.

before i broke mine i had a splitter pipe at the side door with a tap. when i wanted to fill up i'd just open the side door, lid off backpack, pipe into backpack and let it flow.
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

never had a van mount but all that hose seems awkward,  i've a extend 2 wash 18ltr bp & its never failed i fill it right up & carry it by the handle no prob, tried a trolley for 2 days - found it awkward as well , i use wfp every day but not always all day  & ive been doing it for about 5yrs and if you know how to lift then you shouldn't get any back probs - i mean for £150 its bang on

I find a back pack fantastic as it is multi use You can clean your windows but also apply TFR to connies and gutter.I bought a light weight trolley from Home base for 32 quid it folds up small so takes on space and I can leave the back pack fastened to it.I would say a must have, kit.

go with the esr16 from john hewitts site!

its the same bp as wcw but cheaper.

def would just carry it - has a good handle.

5 speed controller etc ...

just cut off some hose - 10 m or so and then your sorted.

my lads use them day in day out and work great mate for those tighter space jobs etc ...

yes mate.

only mod i made: cut the end of the pipe off and put a gardiners tap on it then a rectus 21 connection for you microbore hose, gardiners call it ez snap but is the same thing.

i only put a tap on it so it doesnt drip any water when in the van so no a must be does help.

has a 5 speed controller - i use it on setting 1 (lowest flow for reg clean) & flow 2 for first cleans.

you can do say 2 - 3 reg houses on one fill - tops and bottoms

yes well worth it

decided to get my 2year old shurflo out the cupboard yesterday charged up battery, and took it with us in the van, speed up a few jobs where it was really handy to use.i do put it on me back no problems.

well worth the money,it will now be staying in the van.
