not in our house, had my girls (one 5, one - 8 ) playing up and down on them today to get on and off of garage roof, they luved it, what an adventure, 1st time theyve been on roof,

no mate , parks are not what they used to be my youngest's 11 now & he's been playing on ladders & going on roofs since he could climb but he's always safe & he loved it, kids playgrounds are crap now no big slides or anything , there not doing it unsupervised & years ago 5,6 yr olds roamed all over alone

seriously thou ladder was secured and there was no danger, just a sense of danger to both girls, they loved the experiance,

dont agree with it George but if you are happy so be it,but once youve learned them what if they see an unsecured ladder about and climb that and have an accident

this is being taken n=more seriously than i thought, they wont go up any ladder as they are also taught other things in life, lifes about balance, if they dont see danger they will take risks, if they know about danger then they can learn educated risks - if that makes sense, (hard to put in writing), i would never let them be put in danger but i will let them be supervised like this,

eh by gum the 40 mile bike rides we had to Blackpool on or trikes,day on the dipper and back for the bedtime story,ckicken lickin couldnt beat it

My 14 year old daughter sometimes helps me on my round (I am trad).

She only uses a 6 feet point ladder, as there there is a limit on how high youths are allowed to
work at height. The limit is 8 feet.

Like myself, she is very careful, and won't begin to climb it until she knows it has been safely positioned.

No way would i let my kids climb on a garage roof.  They are 10 & 7.

Sorry but in my opinion, there is no need for them to be up there. Fair enough the ladder was secure, but did you have a fence round the edges ?

Doesnt matter how supervised kids are, ACCIDENTS HAPPEN !

This ladders next week scaffolding.My 5 year old daughter asks most days if she can climb one of my ladders.Gets the same answer every time.NO NO NO.Would never be able to forgive myself if she had an accident.

I used to get Wor Little Un up the chimney during Autumn.  She complained, but it saved me £25 for the chimney sweep.

Sat on roof having a chat and both girls wasn't walking around
On roof alone, at all times when they stood up I was holding
There hands and only 1 at a time,I know what your all saying, but at no time were
They in danger- if they were they wouldn't be up,

jeez for his 10th birthday my lad went on 'go ape' its a tree top course with rope ladders & cargo nets etc safety harnesses & caribiners all over the shop,heighest platform is 60ft  he loved it , he also buzzes off going up ladders n my shed roof  he only does it when he's allowed n he's very safety concious sounds like some on here still got there kids wearing reins till they leave school & i bet their the ones who slag teenagers off all the time, if its safe let em get a bit of excitement

talk about getting carried away,my lad spends half his
life climbing things especially trees where he and his mates
are normally making dens at heights higher than first floor
buildings.

sorry i dont see that letting his kids climb a ladder supervised
onto a  garage roof is particulary irresponsible,i wonder do you let
your children out and do thye cross the road on their own

incidently when i was twelve i fell out of a tree and broke both my
wrists but it didnt stop me climbing again a couple of months later.

I think the Kids need to learn to recognise risk and danger, I have let my 2 boys on the garage roof they are 8 and 10, They know only to go up if I am watching, Is there a risk yes but It will help them learn how to do things in a safer way. My grandad used to let loose with his electric saw when I was about 8 and helped me learn about safety.

Have also fallen out of the odd tree or 2 but you learn from it. You need to let them have a go sometimes and the safest way is for us to teach them.
