lets be honest, if we had all tried at school, we could be working 40 hours in a bank on £7,  and how our parents would of been proud of us, instead we got to this well paid crap job

Love it when that happens. I had a kid talk to me about window cleaning once and how his dad earns more than me. Turned out his dad was earning £12k a year ... kid seemed a little gutted when i told him i earnt double what his dad does ;D

My dad was a window cleaner. I took a lot of abuse at school as it was deemed a dead end job for thickos. I went on to get a degree in English & Philosophy and now at 47 I'm cleaning windows.

The fact is that when we had a window cleaner and I worked at home a few years ago, I'd chat to our windie for ages. He was an intelligent bloke who cleaned windows out of choice and it suited his lifestyle.

I have to say also that this is about the best forum I've ever come across. Lots of intelligence and wit here. Imagine what an accountancy forum must be like?

And the correct answer is "Yep, so you'd better work hard at school or you'll end up as a dead-end loser like me".

Just laughing about this the other day with the wife. She was telling me that sometimes our wee fella get teased  at school about his Dad's 'job'.

Apparently his close friends tell the teasing kids....."You oughta see the size of house he lives in!!!"

Kids'll be kids!!!

Someone once said 'Foolishness is tied up in the heart of a boy'.

We were all  young once, and have said things that we later learned to be unwise.

I have to feel sorry for today's kids. What will they do when they leave school? Go to uni, leave 3 or 4 year later, either over qualified, or having irrelevant degrees, and sign on. When/if they get a job, they will then face repayment of their student loans once they start to earn £21,000, which will be nothing in a few year's time.

Yeah it's a dead end job but someone's gotta do it  ;)
What do I miss about working for someone else? : Being stuck indoors when the sun is shining - nope
Being told what to do and when to do it - nope
                                                                                 Capped earning potential - nope

This is a real dead end job and as long as others think that im happy  :D

I see people leaving for the station in suits at 6.30am when I'm walking the dog or out for a run and thank god that I am no longer a part of that.

I'm just starting out and already i can see the potential in this, i worked on the buses for 3 years doing 50 plus hours a week, to only take home £325.00 per week.

I have a level 3 in personal training which I intend on doing as 2nd income once my window business builds up, as windows is more consistant money, personal training gets hit hard in credit crunch.

Taken on a new client today, and got 2 estimates to do for windows at 4.30 so i better get on and do that.

Happy days, I love this windows lame job, and glad everyone things its crap, more money for us then hey lads, we are the smart ones really :-)

You did better than me.  I only did £28.  I often work through rain but it turned quite squally - and I had other things I wanted to do anyway.
