If you want the boring bits on c/f fishing poles http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=28582.msg219371#msg219371
otherwise its all on Matts diy site, last para below to quicken the process.

You dont need the top 3 sections of any pole and if buying new you can usually do a deal. I had chance to go pole shopping today and have decided that generally any 16m or 13 m pole will do, so no longer routing for M16, The Shimano Beastmaster or Maver is just as good for our needs.
something like this will get you lightly to 40ft, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SHIMANO-BEASTMASTER-COMPETITION-16M-POLE-/230634669086?pt=...
There are many modular fishing poles capable of use for our purposes out there-basically ANY second hand 16m gives you 42ft I bought a Shakespeare Oneset 13m which will give you 30ft for £10 at a local car boot, the guy was amazed when I gave him the top 3 sections back, he thought he could sell them for £10 The pole is now in Canada  8)
So its open house go get yourselves a light pole-any light pole, for not a lot of money .
