100psi pump
« on: May 29, 2011, 12:03:43 am »
I  bought a pump box from wcw and mistakenly presumed it came with a pump controller however it is just the pump, and strainer with a 85 ah battery

so i have no flow control it is just on full blast  , can i put a controller on it, and should i ??

will it help conserve water and save the pump and battery life or can i just restrict the flow with my tap on the end of the microbore??

Why? I don't mess about with pump controllers, more trouble than they are worth!! I assume it has a pressure switch fitted, if it has just connect it to the battery and off you go!!!  :)

i dont know if it has ? It came already made up. Cant tell if there is a pressure switch? I nearly ordered a vari stream but thought that with the price of this thing there was one in it. 288 quid for a 100psi pump and battery is steep eh. Its liked 140 for the box and 2 hose lock fittings !

It must have a pressure switch on it Sean, just connect it up and give it a go.. I haven't bothered with varistreams for a couple of years now, I was getting too many problems with them, and I always seemed to have them on the highest setting anyway as it allows me to work much faster!!  :)

Never bothered with a Varistream or similar in 6 years. Switched to triggers so pump isn't usually running flat out and cycling any way. One extremely worthwhile pump mod though is to put a 25amp relay in series with the pressure switch. This takes the load off the pressure switch and it should then last the life of the pump. Well both of mine have anyway.

I never used to have a varistream but now I have, I use considerably less water.

well i need to save water as only got a 500 litre tank and doing first cleans will use alot of water changing over so would like to regulate the flow a bit

gonna try the 12v 30 a controller dai recommended

But don't forget with a higher flow you will be able to clean each window faster, so you probably won't use that much extra water!!  :)

500 litres at full flow is 5 litres a minute. 100 minutes work isnt alot !
