Quite a few months ago while in my local corner shop i was summoned upstairs to give a quote. I quoted £50 it was a large room infact a lounge diner and obviously bad access etc.

As soon as I walked out I thought bugger ive under quoted that because it was quite large, well it appears not.

I found it very amusing when i walked in the shop last night and the owner was singing the praises of "The Rug Dr." to a customer.

"its amazing we take our shoes off but we couldnt believe the colour of the water"  and the assistant piped up "and the best thing is its nearly dry straight away" I felt like kneeing him on the way out.

"I payed £30 and you can use your own stuff or theres"

For the sake of a £20 saving (because i would have honoured my price even though it was under quoted)   

Anyway im gonna hire me one of these "AWESOME" machines this week and get a room size piece of carpet and make a video. My back street is ideal for this.

I was thinking a bag of compost thrown on mixed with water and left to dry.

 Any other sugestions???

Bear in mind I only run a twin vac and dont want this Rug Dr showing me up.

I was thinking the other day that if RD's are so good, why aren't us professional carpet cleaners using them?

I'm reluctantly doing a job tomorrow where the young customer has been using "Vanish Foam" on her 1 year old carpet, it's a proper mess. She had considered using a RD but she said herself, that by the time she's gone to the trouble of hiring one, buying the foam etc, she's only going to saving a few quid... It's good to think that there are people out there with sense....

To the unknowing the vid etc looks very impressive, even im gonna hire one just to satisfy my curiosity.

Infact my mother wants her carpets doing (for the last year  ) think ill use this as an experiment, see how fast they resoil

I think you can confidently rubbish a RD to a potential customer without sounding desperate, if you've used one yourself. I did own a Vax once, I tell my customers that for little emergencies they are ok, but when it comes to a deep clean, forget it.

I used to clean my own sofa with a Vax and AAA.... every 3 months because it needed it due to rapid re-soiling....

I'm amazed at the number of people
who are amazed when they see the
porty I'm using.
A lot of them are impressed and say
they expected me turning up with either
a RD or one of them vacuum type cleaners.
Also some people who have had them
cleaned before remark on my procedures,
especially the pre spraying as the previous
cc never did anything like that.
Love it when you've pre sprayed, let it dwell
then agitated and they say whooo it looks
lovely now, and you say I haven't started
cleaning it yet.
Everyone I've met who used a RD before
have said they wouldn't use one again

a) Because it's hard work
b) They don't do a good job and leave carpets
wet
c) The hassle of picking it up, doing the cleaning
and taking it back

I noticed a Rug Doctor Pro in the service area in our place on Friday.

We also uplifted a nice White carpet from a floor sanding job the other week.

Gonna stick it out in the industrial estate and get some lorries over it and do a head to head with a PFX1350.

We have been driving vans over it for the last week or so.

Just needs some cooking oil sprayed on first then out it goes.
