One of these custies, just send me the bill when you are done, second home in London. Hour traveltime to there, hour back. Just needs it done asap, money shouldn't be too much of an issue, but don't want to be ridiculous.

Really need to charge for travel time. I've done jobs like these before and I think I charged £35 or £40 per hour traveled. Usually on site I charge £55-£60 per hour worked (first window to last), but that roughly works out in the low 40 range average on a day. What do you guys charge for jobs like these? Self employed. My work is all within 5-10 miles, so no splitting between other jobs. Usually I would just be working and earning every hour so really do need to charge for it.

Is the property to be cleaned in London? If yes don't forget congestion charge.
Will doing the job, put your other schedules behind? If yes, then charge for your time and fuel costs.
Personally would work out your price and quantify such with custie, before even contemplating the clean

I think I'd just put the customer off and not do it; there seems to be a lot of scope for a major kerfuffle here.

if your making £55to £60 an when working on site u should between £55 to£60 an hour traveling time simple

i would pass up the job unless i could earn at least £40 an hour(including travel time )and i got paid promptly off a good loyal long standing customer.2 hours travelling is just too much unless their willing to pay for it.

eg 2 hours travel time   £80

job time 1 hour              £40

so id want £120.not many people will pay that for having their windows cleaned.if they do then happy days.id do it.wouldnt bother for anything less though.

one of my custies wanted their london residence cleaned by me and I'm from west sussex.
£110 for the house and he then suggested £100 for travel time diesel etc. Works out fine for me
Tie it in with a visit to mum (wife and kids join me in the evening)
A nice weekend in the smoke once a month. Happy days

I had a marketing bloke in the other day, fully qualified lovely chap seemed to know wht he was doing when I asked what he charged he told me £500 a day when I asked him how many days it would take him to do the work I anted he said he didn't know it all depends

So I say how many days a month do you earn your £500 say last month his reply.............."...........wait for it................ 1!

When I suggested he lowered his rate a bit say to £200 a day and he got wooow maybe ten days work in the month and earn £2000 what did he reply

Cmon altogether now " I wouldn't work for anything less than my £500 a day, what am I stupid?

And here is the best bit,now remember fully qualified a degree letters after his  name the whole nine yards and guess what he asked never mind who he asked ,me the windier cleaner, but what he asked' where am I going to get all these new customers?   Ha ha ha he is in marketing

Turned out a bit nightmar-ish today. Got it all done, and invoiced the customer for £40 an hour traveltime, on top of that Diesel, congestion charge, parking.
Not including time spent stationary in traffic!!      

Job was tricky, but was doable. Best I could do really, but next time will travel either in weekend or during non peak.  

Left at 7:30, came back at 14:30. I guess you can never truly get your money out of those cleans. But since I clean his home locally, it's a job that will be done for many many years at a good rate.

You have to wonder that with these people that have "letters" after their name, where their degree for common sense is
So many people have a really good days work......now and again..... and all of a sudden that becomes their day rate? After a while they start believing it and won't work for less, sitting there wondering where it all went wrong.
I  certainly don't believe in under valuing your services(whatever they are), but there is a limit. Sorry but £500 a day for marketing......he's having a laugh
work that out on 20 days a month 46 weeks a year.........yeah right

any thing like my customer its a trust thing.
my customer is very rich, very famous and very paranoid
I mainly deal with the estate manager but once I met the owner
we got on like a house on fire.
When I clean his place now he comes out for a chin wag he's also
fantastic for perks. Concert, football, wimbledon you name it he has given me tickets
for all sorts. but as i say its a trust thing

Because it's a trust thing really. You wouldn't let anyone into a property like that and just say, close the door when you are finished.

But yea I was very fortunate there was two or three paid parking bays in that street, which he told me beforehand. But at £4 an hour it's not exactly cheap, but factored that in as well. But have got backpack too.
