« on: April 17, 2011, 10:14:05 am »
Just fitted a 100psi pump to a old dial type veristream when i turn the flow up high around 2 oclock onwards the flow keeps dropping and the pump switches its self off for a second or two keeps doing it.

any ideas why that is?
Dave.

the flow is too high and there is no where for the water to go so stops it self rather than keep pushing water   mine does it all the time,  if you turn it down it should just keep working

Or change your minci-bore hose to 8mm.

why r u turning the flow up around 2?  does the flow seem to slow down then and you have to increase it  if it is it might be a battery problem

Do what I did and throw away the varistream!! More trouble than they are worth, just connect straight up to the pump and no more problems!!!  :)

If I did that I would pump my tank dry in two houses

dave is there a little button at the side of the controll box? when turning dial so it just clicks on press that button until light flashes then turn the dial to full then press the button again. this sets where the pump starts working and switches itself off. thats if your varistream is the same as mine. hope you get it sorted.

Why?? the faster the water comes out the faster you can clean windows!! so you shouldnt be using any more water without the varistream... you will just get more work done in less time and without the unecessary problem of a faulty varistream!!!  ;)

Unscrew the 4 screws that hold the front face plate on and carefully prise the cover plate off. It will have a rubber seal that it will stick to. The switch will still be wired up so be careful not the pull the plate too hard. On the circuit board there is a little blue pot that has a philips/posidrive star head. With a small screwdriver carefully turn that pot clockwise until you reach its stop. Then turn it anti clockwise until it reaches its other stop. Do this about 10 - 15 times. It will clear any oxidation from the contacts so it will work efficiently again. If you then turn the pot clockwise to its fullest extend, that will be it's highest pressure. Without screwing the face plate back switch the pump on and try your dial (flow control) at the highest setting you want it. Then with your screwdriver turn the pot screw back until the pump starts to cycle (switch off and on, off and on). Then turn the pot screw clockwise again just past the place that it stops and starts. Switch the water off at the pole and check that the pump cuts out and when you open the tap again the pump runs and doesn't cycle. Your Varistream is now set up. You can then screw the face plate back on.

If he is running the pump at about 2 oclock then the varistream will be set just off it's highest pressure pumping water through 100 meters of mini bore hose still on hose reel using 2mm jets in the brush head.
I did the exact procedure on Thursday morning with exactly the same model varistream, so its still fresh in my memory. It only worked properly after I cleaned the contacts as I described above - this tip of cleaning oxidised contacts was passed on to me many years ago by a radio and TV repairman.

Spruce,

Just done exactly what you said and that has sorted the problem! i can run it right to maximum without any issues of pump going off at all, although the day to day setting will be around 10-11am on the flow control.

I am running 60 meters of microbore 6mm on the rose reel.

Many thanks.

Dave.
